Newsletter November 2011
Nov 01, 2011 -SOUTH CHINA
Camilla & Pia

Dear members,

The time has come for us to start planning of the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is scheduled for March 3, 2012. There are many things to prepare, but special for this time is that we will need to elect a new Chairman as I will not run for reelection.

It has been very interesting to serve as chairman, which I naturally will continue to enjoy until the next AGM, but in the meantime, I would like to strongly recommend you all to preserve the good organization and network we have. Support the activities and volunteer if you can, as DCC-SC is truly unique and a good opportunity for the Danish community of South China.

I would like to be remembered for our increased activity level with more and longer activities, newsletters, updated website (though still in the making), but if you disagree with this development then now is the time to voice your opinion before the next chapter of our chamber begins. You can either write a paragraph in this newsletter, contact me or other of the board members, or present your opinion at the AGM.

Please also contact us if you have an interest in board work, perhaps would like to run for chairman or if you like to volunteer some work hours for our chamber. Everyone is welcome.

Best regards,
Henrik Larsen
Chairman of the Danish Chamber of Commerce – South China

Skt Hans, June 18

This year our Skt. Hans party took place at Shangri-La Hotel in Shenzhen. We enjoyed a lovely barbeque at the pool side at the outdoor veranda. As we also managed to sing the ‘Midsommervisen’, it almost felt as if Denmark came a little closer for a while. We look forward to spend the next Skt. Hans with you and your family next summer June 16, 2012. Remember to book the date already now!

Cross-Cultural Training Seminar, August 24

This year we have had the pleasure of hosting a Cross-Cultural Training Seminar at the Canton Club in Guangzhou. The focus was on successful coaching and communication between Scandinavian management methods and Chinese methods.

Keynote speaker, Tony Fang, shared with us his deep experience in China/cross-cultural/global issues gained from working many years as a coach for top executives operating in China as well as in Scandinavia. The event was really well visited by a total of 38 participants.

Business event, September 23

Planning an interesting business event  always comes down to finding enthusiastic people and companies who want to share their experience and findings with all of us. Maybe even share a peek into the future. At the last event, Zhuhai Investment and Promotion Bureau provided us with a look into the future development of the Zhuhai region, the third new area of China namely Heng Qin Dao, which among others will count Asia’s largest marine animal park.

The Danish engineering consulting company COWI A/S provided us with a really interesting presentation on the soon to be worlds longest immersed tunnel at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao link.

Coloplast provided us with a guided tour at their factory and hosted the International and Independent China Specialist Andrew Leung. Mr. Leung's presentation guided us through the current and future challenges and opportunities which Danish companies are facing in a changing China.

Last but not least we went to visit East Asia Composites Ltd. A company specializing in composite product construction for marine, architectural, transport and energy sectors. A very interesting tour which among others showed us the production of VIP marker boasts for the coming American Cup race.

Thank you to all our guestspeakers and co-hosts for helping us create a very interesting day!
